ISO 20022: Don’t Get Left Behind

In our three-part podcast series on ISO 20022, we talk to Isak Penttila, Payments Modernisation Consultant at Movitz Payments and a long-standing ISO 20022 expert.

ISO 20022 is the payment standard of the future, and the November 2025 deadline for banks set by Swift is fast approaching. Yet many banks have not even started to implement ISO 20022 – or have only invested the bare minimum of time and money to be just about compliant with Swift’s requirements.

However, if they want to not only utilise ISO 20022, but also benefit from the many advantages that the payment standard can offer, they need to do more than just the minimum.

This also applies to the banks’ corporate clients: although the November 2025 deadline does not apply to them, they will also have to gradually switch over. However, it is precisely here that the potential benefits that companies can also gain from ISO 20022 have not yet really got around.

In an interview with SEEBURGER expert Ulf Persson, Isak Pentilla explains what ISO 20022 actually is and what banks and companies can expect. He discusses practical tips and strategies on how both banks and companies can best prepare for the migration.
